James Carey is a seasoned private equity investor and M&A executive with more than 20 years of experience originating, structuring, and executing lower middle-market investments. Throughout his career, he has built a strong track record of identifying compelling investment opportunities, cultivating proprietary deal flow, and driving transactions across a broad range of industries.
James is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Relevance Capital. Prior to founding the firm, he served as Partner and Head of M&A at Next Sparc Growth Partners, a prominent single-family office with a diversified portfolio of investments. Previously, he held senior investment positions at leading private equity firms, including Vice President at Peterson Partners and Director at H.I.G. Capital, a global investment firm with over $85 billion in assets under management. He began his career as an Associate at New River Capital Partners, the private investment firm of renowned entrepreneur H. Wayne Huizenga.
James is a graduate of the University of Vermont and resides in Miami, FL with his wife and two children. An avid golfer, he enjoys spending time on the course and caddying for his son.
